Somerville Open Cinema 2012 was a great success!!!!!

Thanks to all of the film/video makers and wonderful audience for making the 2012 Somerville Open Cinema a great success. Many of the submissions will be playing on SCATV Channel 3 in Somerville on a new 1/2 long shorts program called Vision Blast, which will premiere in June 2012.

Somerville Open Cinema Mini-Film Festival will take place Saturday, May 5 from noon until 6PM

On Saturday, May 5 starting at 12 noon, we will begin screening the accepted submissions to our festival in a gallery loop that will run continuously until 4pm. At 4pm, we will begin the official "sit-down" screening that includes all of the works from the looping program, plus a reception followed by a q&a with the participating film and video makers. Please join us for this very special event. Accepted film and video makers include:

CALL FOR SHORT FILMS & VIDEOS for screening during Somerville Open Studios on May 5-6, 2012.

NO ENTRY FEE Deadline for entries is April 5, 2012


The festival will take place at Somerville Community Access TV, 90 Union Square in Somerville, MA.

The Somerville Open Cinema Festival showcases the multitude of fantastic film artists who create their work in Massachusetts.

This mini film festival seeks short (under 10 minutes) films and videos made in Massachusetts (especially Somerville).

We welcome new and old films and videos from all genres such as documentary, narrative, experimental, animated, etc. Acceptable formats include 8mm, Super-8, 16mm and video. Projects with a connection to Somerville, MA are encouraged.

Submissions can be sent on standard DVD or Quicktime data DVD and must be post marked by the entry date of April 5, 2012. Electronic Quicktime compatible files may be submitted via dropbox or as links via a file sharing service no later than April 5, 2012. We will notify filmmakers the status of their submission by April 12, 2012.

Filmmakers can elect to broadcast their submission on Somerville Community Access Television.

Somerville Open Cinema is funded by Somerville Arts Council, Massachusetts Cultural Council and Somerville Community Access Television
